Chris Hansen was born on the 13th of September 1959 in Chicago, Illinois, United States and began growing up in West Bloomfield Township and Birmingham, Michigan. He informed City Pulse that he initially wanted to pursue a career in journalism so he can be a journalist when he was 14 years old, after watching and following the police and FBI investigation into Jimmy Hoffa’s disappearance.

In Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, he attended school at Brother Rice High School. Hansen earned a Bachelor of Arts in telecommunications from Michigan State University in 1981. Chris Hansen is married to Mary Joan and they have two children together. It was said to be that Mary Joan filed for divorce in 2018 after spending 30 years in marriage, who would have known that such a day would come.

On the other hand, she made frequent appearances on Chris Hansen’s YouTube channel in 2020 implying that they are still together despite what was reported in 2018. Patricia Hansen, his mother, sadly passed on on 1 March 2020.
