Benjamin Hammond Haggerty also known professionally as Macklemore was born on the 19th of June 1983 in Kent, Washington, United States. He discovered his interest in music at a young age by listening to rap music, where he began becoming a fan of the group Digital Underground.
He drew inspiration from names such as Nas, Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan at the age of 15 while he was still a scholar.
Macklemore grew up with a drug addiction problem for many years, he checked himself into a rehabilitation center in 2008 where he triumphed over it for a good 3 years and he relapsed in 2011.
He tied the knot with his girlfriend Tricia Davis after 7 years of being in a relationship with her. They had their first child who is a daughter in early 2015 and further on had a second daughter in 2017.
